Changing conditions

11th January 2026

Today was a day of changing conditions. After a couple of calmer days recently, drifting and new snow both yesterday and overnight formed new accumulations on North-West to North-East aspects, this morning the temperature rose and precipitation gradually turned to rain at all levels. There will have been a period of instability as this happened particularly in the new accumulations mentioned above, by midday the snowpack was consolidating and will continue to do so. The snowpack will also continue to thaw and diminish tonight and Monday, so far the snow cover is holding up well, most photos from today are from around midday to 1pm.
