Stunning Weather

24th December 2025

It was a stunning day in Torridon today, an all too rare treat. Blue sky, almost no wind and extensive views curtesy of the high pressure system which is currently dominating weather over Scotland. Freezing levels are variable due to high pressure. A light frost was noted in the glen this morning with warmer conditions in layers above.

There is however virtually no snow remaining in the Torridon forecast area, with the exception of the highest North to East facing corrie rims where thin ribbons of snow are clinging on. These remaining isolated snow patches will be firm and present a slip hazard for the unwary. Very little is expected to change over the next few days as high pressure continues to dominate.

The photos below provide a flavour of mountain conditions for the area.

Creag Dubh (900m) East end of Beinn Eighe. The corrie on the right hand side of the photo is North-East facing (Leathad Bhuide) some micro patches of snow just visible on the corrie rim.

Summit of Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe (963m) on the Eastern end of Beinn Eighe. Black Carls on the skyline lit up by the morning sun.

South-East aspect of Liathach.

Merry Christmas everybody from the SAIS team in Torridon. Let’s hope Santa brings us some snow 🙂
