A Brief Glimpse

22nd December 2025

Very mild conditions in the Torridon area today. The temperature in the Glen rose to +9 degrees and the freezing level rose to well above the summits by mid-day. Rainfall, combined with the mild temperatures has diminished the already minimal snow patches further. The only snow remaining is clinging onto very high North to East facing corrie rims. Further mild conditions tomorrow will reduce what snow is left further before a colder spell is expected from Christmas Eve onwards. There is currently insufficient snow to warrant publishing an avalanche report.

The photos below give you a flavour of mountain conditions here in Torridon.

A brief glimpse of the Eastern end of Liathach. Spidean Choire Leith (1055m)

Northern aspect of Beinn Damph (903m)

North side of Maol Chean-dearg (933m) to the South of Glen Torridon.

A view looking up to the North West end of Liathach – Mullach an Rathain (1023m) visible, with the coire rim of North facing Coireag Dhearg etched with a very small ribbon of snow.

The Ling Hut, leased by The Scottish Mountaineering Club. South aspect of Beinn Eighe in the background.

Santa arriving early ‘Torridon Style’. Cheered up what was otherwise a somewhat grey day. Let’s hope Santa brings some snow for Christmas.
