A Light Dusting

18th December 2025

Today remained mainly dry despite cloud threatening wetter conditions especially over the western coastal ranges. Inland ranges even enjoyed some brighter intervals and only very isolated showery activity. The moderate to fresh South-Westerly winds felt cool at higher altitudes with the freezing level around the highest summits. Fionn Bheinn at 925 metres recording 1.3C at midday. Overnight there had been a dusting of snow on the high summits above 900 metres. Little evidence remained of previous snowfall through yesterday’s thaw with only a few isolated patches remaining around corrie rims and gully tops.

More snow is expected overnight and through tomorrow, initially above 750m then rising to 900m but wetter snow as the freezing level rises above 1000 metres. Gale force South-Westerly winds during the day.
