A dusting of fresh snow

15th December 2025

Today I headed up Fionn Bheinn to see how much fresh snow had fallen. The answer was ‘not very much’, with just a dusting above around 850 metres and even this was thawing in occasional bits of weak sunshine.

Slightly wet snow at 933 metres was sticking to the windward side of the trig point.

A dusting of snow at 930 metres.

The sun low in the sky looking over Achnasheen.

Red deer, part of a group of around 20.

The temperature plummeted at 19:00 yesterday and was around 0 degrees at 925 metres today. Occasional showers fell as snow on the higher summits.
