Calm before the Storm
4th April 2026
Today was relatively calm, a bright morning with moderate South-westerly winds, becoming cloudier through the afternoon. New snow deposits from last night were shallow with a superficial covering on many aspects above 600 metres and any isolated windslab deposits consolidating quickly. Todays observations were from the Fannichs, photos from today are very different to tomorrow conditions expected tomorrow. Storm Dave is forecast to bring significant snowfall overnight Saturday with snow showers and drifting continuing through Sunday. Windslab will develop rapidly though the period as detailed in the report.

A small cornice around the corrie rim on Meall Gorm, however very little build up of fresh snow below.
