A little more snow

12th March 2025

A little more snow fell last night and cleared to give a dry day with sunny spells. The Torridon mountains looked bright with the light shining on the fresh snow. The reality is the snow cover is still quite thin although there is snow on most aspects above around 650 metres. Any snow at lower elevations quickly melted during the day. Despite the thin cover it is definitely winter conditions on the summits. Where the snow has seen the sun today it could become firm tomorrow, there is also rime on the rocks and cliffs at higher elevations.

A dry day with light winds is forecast for tomorrow. The freezing level will gradually rise to around 800 metres during the day.

Looking to the summit of Spidean Coire nan Clach, Beinn Eighe. Despite the thin snow cover it is definitely winter conditions on the summits just now. Note the rime on the rocks at this height.
