Not a Cloud

13th February 2025

Today being dry and sunny with not a cloud in the sky there were many mountain vistas to enjoy, and a good chance to compare the remaining snow cover across a wider Torridon perspective. Easterly winds still meant for a cold day, though being lighter than of late, with less of a wind chill. In wind sheltered locations down at sea level temperatures were a pleasant 9c, warmer in sunny spots, compared to -1.8c at 770 metres.

Cover remains patchy with greatest cover on inland as apposed to coastal summits and on high Northerly and Easterly aspects.

Continuing cold tomorrow, with the possibility of light snow snowfall towards the weekend.

Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe and the lower Creag Dhubh with some of the greater amount of cover, above 750 metres.

The distant summit Spidean Coire nan Clach, with snow on the rim of Coire an Laoigh, very patchy elsewhere.

Rock bands of Spidean a Choire Leith with ice hanging in there, by late afternoon it was evident that some of these had melted in the exposed sun and fallen off.

A panoramic view of Beinn Alligin and Liathach with next to no snow as seen from the south.

A cloudless sky above the Easterly coires of Beinn Bhan with patches around coire rims and ice lines.
