Poor Visibility

27th February 2020

Snow showers continued through today with fresh to strong Westerly winds drifting more snow mainly onto NE to SE sheltered aspects. Windward aspects remain scoured and icy in places. Unfortunately, the visibility was generally poor to be able to see new snow distribution except for glimpses between showers.

Snow to low levels on Creag Dhubh at the east end of Beinn Eighe. There are also wind scoured slopes and areas of shallow snow cover. However, deep drifts made for hard going on foot at times.

This is what it was like most of the time particularly during snow showers.

A glimpse of the main ridge of Beinn Eighe. The summit of Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe (963m) is scoured on the windward West aspect.

The Ptarmigan have been having a rough time recently.

Liathach emerging from a particularly heavy snow shower. Brighter spells in the afternoon today.
