Stormbound!

7th January 2020

In over 40 years experience of the Torridon hills, I can’t remember such a persistently wet and windy Glen Torridon. It felt like twilight all day! Plus 12C in the Glen. Consistently gusting over 90mph recorded at Sgurr a’ Chaorachain weather station (780m.), Bealach na Ba, Applecross.

Liathach from Glen Torridon!

Above 2 photos are of the main ridge of Liathach complete with sheets of driven rain and burns running down (blown up) the hillside where I’ve never seen burns before!

The main river running east of the Glen Torridon watershed into Kinlochewe is starting to fill. Far more water to the west of the watershed.

The Bonnaidh Donn waterfall at the head of Loch Maree as seen through a haze of rain.
