Consolidating and Disappearing

16th January 2020

A temperature of 10C noted in Glen Torridon this afternoon. More or less 2 days of thaw combined with rain at most elevations has greatly diminished the snow cover. Still, there are sizeable areas of snow left from Storm Brendan albeit rather wet snow. Some localised instabilities remain in steep areas of snow where they become more extensive and have depth.

Beinn Alligin and Beinn Dearg on the right. Even less snow remains on the more coastal hills.

Liathach from Glen Torridon, as seen through the rain .

Some ice hanging in there in the usual spots, south side Liathach – but little snow. Most snow remains on the more northerly and easterly aspects.

South side Beinn Eighe. No fresh snow observed today.

Reasonable amounts of snow remains at the east end of Beinn Eighe. However, it is thawing right up to the summits.
