A Dull Start to 2020

1st January 2020

A good New Year to you all from the Torridon team.

Due to a temperature inversion at height, a band of fast moving cloud clung to the summits today, although brightening up later and particularly away from the coast. It felt pretty cold with a strong S -SW wind, gales on the tops. There is now a virtually snowless landscape in the North West!

The early bird got the spectacular sunrise this morning – the first of 2020. The view from Ullapool looking up Loch Broom onto the cloud capped Beinn Dearg range of hills.

Tiny patches and strips of old snow clinging to the upper slopes of Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich.

Cloud on Groban (749m.) at the head of Loch a’ Bhraoin. The Torridon mountains are in the background. The cloud base fluctuated between 700 to 800 metres.

Poor visibility on the summits of the Fannaichs today.
