A Rare Day

Ok, a rare morning as it clouded over during the afternoon. Such a peaceful walk in the Fannaichs with calm, sunny and clear conditions and great views to the surrounding mountains. Shallow and stable snow cover, although there are consolidating pockets of windslab at higher elevations on mainly N to E aspects.

(Above) Sun induced single point roller-ball activity on an Easterly aspect at 850m. on Druim Reidh shoulder of Toman Coinnich. There is a warmth in the sun at this time of year which can affect the snowpack and cornices on sunny aspects.

(Above) It felt like a spring day today. The Meteorological first day of spring (March 1st) is this Friday and the mountain hares are out preparing for the event.
