Sunshine then cloud

12th January 2024

High pressure conditions and sunshine continued this morning with the weather starting to change as the day progressed. Initially there were freezing temperatures at most levels giving icy approach paths particularly at low and mid levels. Sunshine on the summits this morning gave way to cloudier conditions in the afternoon.  After a warmer spell with rain at most levels this evening, the temperature will start to fall as we enter another period of colder weather.

Walking into Creag Dubh, Beinn Eighe this morning with sunlight catching the summits.

Looking back down the ridge of Creag Dubh on the approach to the summit.

Looking West from the summit of Creag Dubh, Beinn Eighe towards Sgurr nan Fhir Dhuibhe, Spidean Coire nan Clach in the distance. Todays snow profile being dug in the foreground.

Taking the opportunity to move the weather station to a more inland location. We use the weather station for extra information in addition to the weather observations we make on the hill.
