The fresh dusting of new snow from last nights showers, was evident from around 700 metres and it had  gained a little depth in sheltered locations from around 850 metres.

The ascent of the final ridge onto the summit was made challenging by the strong beastly Southerly winds, which at times made moving forwards quite challenging.  The estimated wind chill was around -7° Celsius and feeling in fingers quickly disappeared despite big gloves.

The new accumulations of windslab in wind sheltered locations has already begun to consolidate and is generally avoidable. The older snow which had been softened by both the sun and the rise in freezing level, made for a very quick descent back into the beautiful spring weather and a return of feeling to fingers.

High pressure will be dominant for the next few days with sunshine and no expected precipitation. Due to the position of the high pressure system over Denmark, it is expected that the nice weather will be accompanied with fresh to strong winds.
