A beautiful, but very cold day in Torridon. Temperatures were off the scale today; -18C at Aultguish on the A835 driving to Torridon this morning and -18.5C snow surface temperature at 970m, NW aspect on Beinn Eighe summit ridge. Due to the very cold temperatures, weaknesses have developed in the snowpack in specific locations and moderately bonded windslab persists in other locations. (Above) All my spare clothes were on! We experienced severe windchill on the exposed ridge, but fortunately, the snowpit site was sheltered.
