Nice first thing, blizzard conditions later.

Another wild weather day, but I did get some views first thing but by mid morning and higher on the hill it was quite unpleasant. I met some people wanting to walk up Beinn Eighe but they wisely retreated having had enough of been blasted in the windy conditions. Visibility was generally very poor on the hill. The unsettled weather is going to continue but at least this evening and overnight it should become dryer with light snow showers expected again tomorrow from around mid-morning. Winds are to lower overnight but then turning Easterly and becoming strong. This will give us significant redistribution of snow above 650 meters with the snow moving from Easterly aspects to Westerly aspects tomorrow.
First thing this morning the view was reasonable.
Creag Dhubh Beinn Eighe; for a few minutes I though, it might actually be quite nice.
By the time I had got higher this was as good as it got!
It’s always nice to get back down to the wonderful trees.

Have you any idea as to how much snow there will now be in the north facing gullies of Ben Eighe-notably Fuselage Gully and Morrisons gully?

Hi Jamie. Apologies for the delay in replying. Currently (Wed 26/02), there will be a lot of fresh snow in the gullies of Coire Mhic Fearchair, mainly windslab around the tops of gullies. These gullies are also affected by cross loading under current weather conditions, particularly the deep gully of Morrison’s. Check the SAIS website for latest forecasts and snow conditions.
