Wonderful day!
4th February 2020
Wow, the first not to windy and dry day I’ve had for ages… the sun even shone. It is inspiring to be in Torridon most of the time but when its nice its outstanding…
The freezing level crept up over night and is around 900 metres, this slight thaw or warming event (we do try to cut out the jargon) has helped the snow pack to consolidate but it remains cold above 900 metres so some very small areas of unstable wind slab will remain but these will be isolated and generally avoidable. So the avalanche hazard is Low - The definition for Low is; “only small and medium sized natural avalanches are possible. Human triggering possible in steep, extreme terrain.”
Enjoy the hills!

The two guys waving in the above photograph was us! We had a brilliant day on both Munro summits of Beinn Eighe – great views from Spidean Coire Nan Clach.
