Spring Winter
4th April 2018
This is the winter that keeps on giving. More snow overnight down to 200m, generally a light covering a lower levels but deeper accumulations where it has been wind transported at higher elevations. It was a fine day with bright and sunny periods.
Liathach first thing this morning with fresh snow to low levels.
Cloud breaking over the south Torridon hills as an area of rain, sleet and snow slowly drifts southwards during the morning.
Much rollerball activity. Single point releases evident on the sunny southerly aspect of Coire an Laoigh, Beinn Eighe.
Recent rollerballs and an older cornice collapse avalanche which has travelled a good distance from the summit ridge. Large old cornices persist on the ridge above.
Looking South-East out of upper Coire an Laoigh with Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe of Beinn Eighe on the left. A fair bit of trail breaking required through the last few days snow deposition.
Good snow cover remains above 650m on the east end of Beinn Eighe.
