Continued thaw
9th March 2026
Today remained mild with strong South-South-Westerly winds and a continued gradual thaw of the patchy snow cover. Conditions were dry until mid afternoon although the tops were in the cloud all day. Todays observations were Fionn Bheinn again today, allowing for some maintenance on our weather station identified yesterday. With the tops in the cloud photos of the summits in our area are limited but there has been little change, just slightly less snow remaining. A few photos of some peaks out of the area to the South as these summits were out of the cloud this morning. The peaks South of the Torridon area generally have greater cover remaining.
Looking towards the summit of Fion Bheinn, this North-East facing slope sliding some snow while the South side only has a couple of small patches.
The temperature data for the last 24 hours from our weather station. The temperature has been above freezing for the whole period. The full data can be viewed at https://holfuy.com/en/weather/1529
Carn Gorm on the left and Moruisg on the right. These hills are on the South side of Glen Carron with just a little snow remaining round the coire rims.
Maoile Lunndaidh to the South of the Torridon forecast area.
North facing slopes Sgurr Fhuar-thuill by Glen strathfarrar. Again to the South of the Torridon forecast area.
North facing slopes of Sgurr na Lappish on the left and the ridge leading to An Riabhachan by Loch Mullardoch. Again these hills are to the South of the Torridon forecast area.
