Thaw conditions on Beinn Eighe

25th February 2026

Todays observations were from Coire an Laoigh, on Spidean Coire nan Clach, Beinn Eighe. Despite the rain and mild temperatures significant snow remains in the corrie, this is likely to be the same in many of the higher corries and gullies in the area. While there is a thaw of the lying snow and this is very evident by the river levels, the snowpack was firm in places particularly on steep slopes.

Mild and wet conditions are forecast to continue for Thursday with a ridge of high pressure bringing drier and colder conditions on Friday afternoon and Saturday. The snowpack will become very firm as the temperature drops through this period.
