Fionn Bheinn

22nd February 2026

A journey up onto Fionn Bheinn today to see how the snow in the coire is doing. It’s a fairly reliable snowy coire here, and seems to catch and hold onto snow well. Plenty of snow still up there. Most overhanging cornices seem to have gone, but some very steep cornice edges remain.

A lot of icy rime on the snow surface from the recent temperature fluctuations around summit level which have been accompanied with some rain and sleet. Still some hard and icy patches around, particularly on the flatter terrain high up, where snow has thawed and then refrozen slightly.
