West end of the Torridon Area.
7th January 2026
Overnight there was more snowfall above around 200m which continued into the morning, giving me a distinctly white drive across to Torridon from Kinlochewe. Car parks are still covered in deep snow with their entrances having a deeper bank of snow from the excellent road clearance work of the council snow ploughs.
Further west it was brighter which gave me some excellent views and lighting. Knee deep snow, with frequent thigh deep patches, made ascent (and descent) hard work.
On my return I noticed some avalanche debris on the lower south slopes of Liathach, below Coire Liath Mhor. This probably released during yesterday morning as the freezing level rose and snowfall turned to rain at this level (c.375m).
(Above) White and more white as I drove west from Kinlochewe to Torridon this morning.
