Views of the snow in Torridon

9th January 2026

Todays was clear with light winds and gave a chance to get high-up and get some good views of the snow cover across the Torridon area. Todays observations were from Creag Dhubh on Beinn Eighe although there are also some photos sent in from an off duty forecaster in the Fannichs.

The snowpack continues to gradually consolidate although some weaknesses remain present. The good weather and slow consolidating trend will continue through Saturday before the weather becomes more stormy on Sunday. Precipitation on Sunday is forecast to start as snow turning to rain at most levels through the afternoon combined with very strong Southerly winds.

The summit ridge of Creag Dhubh Beinn Eighe with some cornices. Some of these have collapsed, it was useful to note they did not trigger any avalanches onto slope below when they collapsed.
