Eastern end of Beinn Eighe

27th December 2025

After a frost in the glen this morning there was another pleasant dry day, with stronger NE winds than of late. The dry air meant that above around 300m ice remained on the paths and the surface of lochans remained fully or partially frozen. Over Beinn Eighe the cloud base remained around 700-800m, but with enough breaks as it drifted across to give some views (and photo opportunities) onto Ruadh-stac Beag and Ruadh-stac Mor.

The remaining snow is firm and stable. It lies mainly around coire rims, on steep upper slopes and at the tops of some gullies above 850 metres on North to East aspects.

Although limited in extent, the firm snow has serious run outs, with potentially serious consequences in the event of a slip or trip.
