Snow
28th March 2025
A brief return to winter conditions today. Showers fell as snow above around 700 metres although there is only a thin covering of snow above around 850 metres. At lower elevations any snow that fell was melting almost immediately. The first photos show snow cover at around 11am this morning, snow at this point was very minimal, there was however rime on the rocks on the highest summits and ridges. Showers continued and were often heavy, the final 2 photos were taken around 2 hours later and show a little more snow. Showers continued through the rest of the day and are forecast to continue onto the evening so the snow cover will be slightly greater tomorrow morning. However the freezing level rises around mid morning with precipitation turning to rain at all levels and increasing South-Westerly winds, so unfortunately the return to winter will be brief.
