Not as wet as expected

22nd March 2025

It was another mild day but it stayed reasonably dry with only isolated light showers. The cloudbase was just above summit height for most of the morning, dropping in the showers.

There are only ioslated, small patches of snow remaining in the Torridon area at the moment. A little summit snow is forecast for tonight which should make the tops look white again but no significant accumulations are expected.

The fire service have been issuing wildfire warnings recently and there was a wildfire on the South side of Liathach yesterday. Hopefully some rain last night and more tonight should help reduce the risk. More details in the pictures below.

The site of yesterday’s wildfire on Liathach. Although the water level in the Allt an Doire Ghairbh was very low it still stopped the fire spreading Westwards.

A different angle on the Liathach wildfire area. The path up into Coire Liath Mor passes through the burnt area.
