An Teallach

26th March 2025

Although dry today, cloud persisted over the Fannaich summits, so, although technically not in the Torridon forecast area, An Teallach was the venue for today’s mountain obs.

The lower cloud was likely due to a temperature inversion just below summit levels. Otherwise, the more coastal mountains remained clear in the morning, with a ‘watery’ sun as higher cloud thickened ahead of an approaching weather front. Forecast for heavy rain overnight at all levels, easing by daybreak, but further rain expected by late morning.

A mild day again today; little change in the very limited patches of snow. The mountains in the NW Highlands remain largely bare.

Corrag Bhuidhe ridge (in the cloud), Lord Berkeley’s Seat is the pinnacle on the right and right again, the summit of Sgurr Fiona (1060m.). The highest point on An Teallach is Bidein a’ Ghlas Thuill (1062m.) on the back right of the top photo.
