The Fannich’s
25th February 2025
I went over to the more inland area of our patch today, the Fannich’s. These were forecast to get more snow last night, and through today, than the Torridon hills, but it didn’t really seem as if that happened. Overall snow amounts seemed lower than forecast. and temperatures had remained slightly higher. Still, the hills did look more Wintery today.
It was lovely to watch an eagle soaring about for a few minutes. I do see them often around where I live, but it was nice to see this one in a rugged mountain environment.
Creag Dhubh this morning. A light cosmetic dusting compared to yesterday.
Meall a Chrasgaidh and Carn na Criche. Some fresh snow, but not significant amounts.
Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich in the background, with its NE craggy spur in the foreground.
Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich crags looking more Wintery than they really were. Spot the Eagle.
Coire Gorm on Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich. Some fresh snow at around 750 metres.

Although not our “patch”, Ben Wyvis, with a slight dusting.
