A Vitamin D Day

24th December 2018

Lovely day, frosty in the glens first thing and good periods of sun, only obscured now and again by summit mist. The thin cover of snow has a breakable crust and the old patches of snow remain firm. All change tomorrow; mild and cloudy, perhaps with some light rain at times at all levels.

Creag Dhubh, Beinn Eighe at sunrise. The snowline is around 850m, but lower on the more inland mountains.

Looking west along Beinn Eighe main ridge from the summit of Creag Dhubh. Some mist drifted in late morning.

Surface hoar at 900m.

Looking east from the summit of Creag Dhubh over a frosty Kinlochewe. The snowline is lower (around 750m) in the distant Fannaich mountains.
