Bright, Chilly and Busy

27th January 2017

Yet another fine day with some great mountain views and a pair of Golden Eagles on Sgurr a’Chaorachain. Busy with boulderers at the Torridon boulders. Busy on the hills with cars parked at every footpath. Busy in the Torridon café with lunchtimers. Busy on the roads with tourists. Busy with snow tomorrow?

Across Upper Loch Torridon to Beinn Alligin and Liathach.

Morning light on Liathach from Glen Torridon.

The eastern coires of Beinn Bhan, one of the Applecross hills. Spot the strip of snow!

The mast on the summit of Sgurr a’ Chaorachain. The Met Office have a weather station on this mast from which you can obtain real time hourly readings. At midday today; temperature, 2.8C, wind, 6mph North-Easterly. Lenticular clouds were developing, indicating a strong airflow high up, ahead of an approaching and weakening cold front.

From Sgurr a’ Chaorachain across the Inner Sound to the Cuillin of Skye.
