Grim!

26th January 2016

The first WUD of the season. After negotiating puddles, mudslides, branches on the road, then burns in full spate and saturated ground, it started to really rain!! And when the rain was forced by the gale force wind down your chest into your underpants, it was time to go home. But it was warm rain!

Fresh snow line on the north top Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich (870m)

Slump cracks in the saturated old snowpack - not surprising!

Looking through horizontal lashing rain into Coire Beag, Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich. with the new snow line disappearing fast as the temperature rocketed.

IMGP5966 (640x278)

Very little new snow left on the southerly aspects of Beinn Dearg. So much rain that there were burn lines where they have never existed before.

The highlight of the day - 7 Whooper swans on Loch Droma. At least something appreciated the rain!
