Blizzard Conditions in the Morning

31st January 2015

Gales and heavy snow in the morning made for difficult walking with gusts stopping us in our tracks. Deep drifts were collecting in any sheltered location. By early afternoon, the snowfall turned to heavy squally showers, mainly of graupel – very good for the complexion! There are weaknesses in the recent storm snowpack and we observed avalanche activity on a SE aspect on Liathach.
