Winter Returns

3rd January 2022

Wintry showers today have led to a general covering of new snow above around 400m., mostly lying on bare ground. Some drifting snow is accumulating in wind sheltered areas on East to South aspects, although it had not gained significant depth by midday. At height, wind exposed terrain is scoured. The old snow patches will be re-frozen and firm. As the freezing level lowered, it felt very cold on the hills today in the fresh NW wind.

(Above) A welcomed clearing between showers. Looking wintry on the northern Fannaich mountains, albeit, a rather shallow covering of new snow.
