Wet morning, tour around and nice afternoon.

8th January 2022

A very wet and mild start to the day in Glen Torridon. Plus 5c at 9.30am. There didn’t appear to be any new overnight snow on Beinn Eighe but friends report significant new snow visible on An Tellach. It appears more showers passed through to the North of Torridon last night.

Below; Beinn Bhan mid morning. Pockets of poorly bonded windslab remain around the tops of gullies on high North to East aspects.

Above; Around 750 metres on Sgurr a Ghabrachain, the Beach na Ba mast hill. The brief thaw today seemed to reach this elevation at about 750 metres but didn’t get much higher. Zero degrees at midday here.

Below; Mid afternoon in Glen Torridon the weather had improved significantly. No sign of any fresh snow from last night, if anything a slight depletion of cover. The prominent ridge leading to Creag Dhubh (to the right of the sun lit patch) is well scoured from the recent South Westerlies.
