Sparse and depleted snow pack.

15th January 2022

What is left of our depleted snow pack is well bonded and stable. Its very patchy with only ribbons of snow laying along ridge crests and other sheltered hollows and so forth. This morning the snow was firm with a light surface crust but the ridge paths are so clear that one hardly ever has to cross over it. Its fantastic walking conditions in the hills, but winter climbers looking for ice may be a bit frustrated!

Ribbons of snow on Creag Dhubh, Beinn Eighe.

The view towards Kinlochewe.

The view over towards Bodiach Dubh (Black Carls).

Wonderful walking through the pine trees from the path which lead one up to Creag Dhubh, Beinn Eighe.
