Gales and spindrift.

6th January 2022

A brief rise in the freezing level has thawed some snow at lower levels, although above 250 metres there remains good cover above 600 metres. Up in the cories today it was quite wild with the strong winds, swirling spindrift and trail breaking. There was poor visibility on the summits. We have a lot of graupel in the snow pack and it stings the skin if you catch the wind on your face.

View over Coire an Laoigh toward Sgurr Ban and Sgurr nan Fhir Buidhe.

Looking upwards towards Spidean Coire nan Clach.

Ptarmigan sheltering from the strong wind at the base of the coire.

Liathach from the car park.
