Fresh snow on the tops

16th January 2022

A colder night with a lower freezing level and a dusting of fresh snow on the tops. It was a nice morning on the hill with some brighter periods and just the odd shower of drizzle. There was drifting snow but any new deposits are quite shallow but worth looking out for at higher elevations on wind sheltered coire rims and ridge flanks, especially where it overlies the older patchy and firm older snow patches.

View from Coire an Laoigh, fresh snow and patchy but firm older snow.

Looking upwards in to Spidean Coire nan Clach.

View over towards Sgurr Ban and Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe.

…..and our classic bench mark image of snow in Torridon, wonderful Liathach.
