Sunshine and Showers

8th March 2020

It was a day of sunshine and showers in Torridon, wintery above 600m.  Yesterday’s rain fall has depleted the snowpack at lower levels but good cover still remains up high.  The snowpack was saturated which makes for slow progress – unless you are lucky enough to be following footprints.

Looking down Loch Maree waiting for the next shower to hit.

Looking into the Northern side of Beinn Eighe with the Corbett, Ruadh-stac Beag on the right.  Good snow cover at these elevations with recent evidence of some wet snow avalanches the previous night.

Thin dusting of fresh snow on Slioch visible between the showers.

Sorry to trouble you but just wondering if you know what conditions are in the Cuillins,
    Regards

Hi James. Apologies for not replying sooner – we missed your message! I know it is ten days since your enquiry, but currently, I would imagine conditions are good at higher elevations in the Cuillins. Thanks. Andy.
