Wild at Height

8th February 2020

A fine start to the day in Torridon. Plus 5 centigrade driving through the glen with sunny spells.

Above, Stuc Coire an Laoigh, Spidean Coire nan Clach, Sgurr Ban and Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe. Overnight new snow has fallen to around 400 metres.

Below, Easterly aspects of Beinn Eighe above Kinlochewe. It is high on the North to East aspects that are somewhat sheltered from the strong South Westerlies that most new snow is accumulating.

Below, the East facing high ground in Coire an Laoigh. Wild in the showers at height today, lots of spindrift making the snow profile site somewhat unpleasant. New snow accumulating in sheltered locations. Areas of old snow exposed to the wind are scoured and extremely hard.

Above, looking down to Loch Clair in Glen Torridon. The new snow level clearly visible in the distance.

Below, Liathach early in the day.
