Storm gale force winds.

22nd February 2020

A yellow warning weather day and it has remained very windy with some wintry snow showers. There was the occasional bright period this morning. High on the hill it’s been rather wild although climbers will be pleased to know that there is some ice forming.

Slioch this morning.

It is wintry high on Liattach with some ice forming.

Lots of Graupel today. These are heavily rimed particles, spherical, conical, hexagonal or irregular in shape formed in the clouds by accretion of supercooled water droplets.

Any idea/thoughts on how well filled in the ‘skiing’ gullies (notably Fuselage Gully and Morrison’s gully) on Ben Eighe are now?

    Thanks for the posts!
