Drizzle and Mist

21st January 2020

It was a super nice morning in amongst the pine trees and mist. It remained dry for a few hours with some drizzle on the walk out which is nothing to complain about. For much of the time this morning the summits were obscured by mist but they cleared occasionally. We have lots of bare terrain now with snow patches and ribbons of snow remaining along ridge crests, coire rims, the tops of gullies and in hollows and stream banks. The snow is wet but consolidating, with some very occasional localised wet snow instabilities. The warm sector conditions are going to continue with the freezing level well above the summits but lowering to 1500 metres by tomorrow evening.
