Gloomy and Windy!

15th December 2018

A bit ominous and threatening for most of the day with the ‘weather’ arriving in the afternoon – severe gales on the summits, generally light precipitation, but high windchill. The snow didn’t happen in the North West as was expected, but it will arrive overnight and into tomorrow. Most hills remain bare.

A bleak looking Liathach first thing this morning.

The heavier rain held off until later in the day.

Not all gloomy! Some brighter spells over the south Torridon hills and to the east.

Upper Coire an Laoigh, Beinn Eighe, with Stuc Coire an Laoigh on the left and the main Beinn Eighe ridge on the right.

Dribbles of ice on the south side of Liathach have formed in the last 2 days – and will continue to ‘grow’. Looking into Toll a’ Meitheach with Pyramid Buttress on the left.
