More of the Same

19th January 2018

Snow showers, some heavy, continued through the day, topping up the snowpack in general and combined with the fresh SW wind, drifting snow added to the existing poorly bonded windslab. Hard going breaking trail through deep snow at all levels, although windward slopes, ridges and summits have less snow cover.

Even though the snowplough had been up the Glen, the road remained very skytie – not great on a single track road meeting oncoming vehicles on a bend!

A snowy Liathach about to disappear into the next shower.

A good cover of snow, particularly on sheltered aspects. Some sunny intervals between showers.

Coire an Laoigh, Beinn Eighe. Note the large cornices on the skyline left of centre, above a steep Easterly aspect slope.

A winter wonderland! Looking east out of Coire an Laoigh
