Deteriorating!

21st January 2018

A gloomy morning as the cloud thickened and lowered from the SW and it started snowing by midday, winds strengthened and the temperature rose; -3C in the Glen at first, +2C by the time I returned four hours later.

Dark clouds to the SW behind the south Torridon hills. There is a slight haze around the summits as spindrift plumes drifted in the strengthening SE winds.

Looking SE out of Coire an Laoigh, Beinn Eighe. Still tedious trail breaking through the soft deep snow.

Deteriorating. Cloud down by early afternoon. Glen Torridon and Loch Clair.

Liathach first thing this morning. The thaw that is forecast into next week will consolidate the snowpack, and there will be significant snowmelt at lower levels.
