A Fine Start to 2018

1st January 2018

A good New Year to you all. Those of you who managed to rise early enough would have enjoyed the best morning for a while! Great sharp views, very cold but much breakable crust at lower to mid levels. Then it deteriorated by midday.

Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich and Sgurr Mor on the right pre sunrise. Good fresh snow cover, but quite superficial really.

A cold clear and still night produced these surface hoar crystals, sparkling in the low sun.

An Teallach about to be swallowed up in the first clouds heralding the approaching rain and snow. Oh for a pair of skis or snowshoes to cope with the breakable crust…..

In the distance and touching the cloud, L to R; Creag Dhubh of Beinn Eighe, Meall Ghuithais and Slioch.

A panorama of the main Fannaich mountains and Loch a’Bhraoin.
