Dull and Uninteresting!

22nd December 2017

No, not Torridon itself dull and uninteresting, but the weather and snowpack. Extensive hill fog above 400 metres today, especially on the more coastal mountains, so not much to view. Remaining mild, but becoming colder later on Christmas eve and Christmas day with snow forecast for the summits.

The best view of the day! Early morning on Creag Dhubh, Beinn Eighe. A much deleted and patchy snowpack.

Spot the Snoiw. A final view of Glen Torridon before heading into the cloud on Liathach.

Most snow remains in gullies, runnels and steep open slopes that were once on lee aspects during previous snowfalls. Here is evidence of icefall collapse and wet snow slides with fresh turf and rocks within. Not a good place to hang about in with no view above and with strengthening winds! Rockfall could be a hazard if funnelled into the gully above.
