A brighter day

5th March 2017

The main summits were in cloud initially and it was much clearer to the west. Fortunately this cloud dissipated and many of the summits were in sunshine. Looking west from the slopes of Beinn Eighe early this morning.

The temperature was rising even before the sun appeared. Quite warm on south facing slopes with lots of rollerball activity. Slow thaw below 750 metres and much higher on sheltered south facing slopes. This has helped to consolidate the existing snowpack.
