Another fine day!

1st March 2017

On the way around to Sgurr a’Chaorachain (near Applecross) this morning I got a glimpse of Beinn Bhan, it has good snow cover. It was a bright clear day when I left our field centre base at Kinlochewe .The further I drove it became cloudier and cloudier. There were climbers on the north buttresses of Meal Gorm although it did not look particularly frozen. The friendly snow plough driver was reminding folks not to park on the hairpin bends as they require the limited road space to manouver their snow ploughs as they endeavour to keep the Lochcarron to Applecross road open.

Beinn Bhan seen through the cloud. This superb mountain offers some of the finest winter climbing in the Northern Highlands.

Creag Dhubh, Beinn Eighe looking very wintry this morning
