The Monsoon Returns.

16th February 2017

The façade of winter has clearly fallen! The mild temperatures combined with rainfall at all levels has stripped what was generally a shallow snowpack. All that remains is wet and very limited, mainly patches, strips and runnels on coire rims and ridge flanks.

Very mild! Ok, note to self – fix the thermometer in the van. But it was 4C at 700 metres at the profile site today.

A greatly diminished snow cover on Creag Dhubh, Beinn Eighe as seen through the rain!

The limited snow distribution in upper Coire an Laoigh, Beinn Eighe, as seen through the rain!

Most hillsides are bare, as seen through the rain!
